Barton question

Ok, here's the short version... I just ordered a new barton system, but can't find a shim for it. All the shims I search for are "non-Barton"... but the Barton is still an exposed core, and I'd rather not crack it.

Any suggestions, besides being careful.

Forget about the shim. Just remember to put the pressure on the clip and not the actual heatsink during install and to properly orient the cooler with the socket and you'll be fine 🙂

heh.. yeah.. out of all the processors i've put in, i have never crushed the core to one. even with one of the very first pc's i put together, i put the hs/f on backwards, where that slight dip was on the opposte side and it still worked. it got pretty hot, but it was fine when i put it on the right way. you have to try harder to crush it than to not crush it 😛

thanks... just didn't want to break my $113 proc...

(yes, i know most of you spent 4 times that on your RAM, but i'm a broke college student)
