I just got my new processor in the mail, and ever time I boot my computer up, it locks up, at the same point. I don't know a great deal about processor setup, and I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me out.
My specs:
AMD XP2500+ barton mobile 266mhz FSB
MSI KT4V mobo - supports 200, 266, and 333mhz FSB
1024megs DDR333mhz ram - this is where the problem probably lies
GEforce 4 Ti4200 128meg
Everything in the bios is at it's defaults. I have tried a variety of FSB/multiplier combinations, and always the same thing.
The place it locks up at is a part of my boot sequence which I have only seen on my computer. Normally, for about 3 seconds it sits at a screen that says "Press <Esc> to view start menu." (or something VERY similar). With this processor it locks up, however it almost seems like it doesn't. After Menu, it has an underscoree, blinking. It keeps blinking, but nothing seems to work at that point, except that power switch =D.
Anyway, I hope someone knows a way to resolve my problem. Thanks in advance.
