The 2500+ comes in 266 and 333 flavors, so it *should* work fine. Just to be on the safe side, make sure you have the latest BIOS for your mobo.

I'm going to get a barton. But my mobo manufacture dosent really say if its compatable.

Is this just a simple upgrade like, TBird B, TBird A, type thing?

The Barton does NOT come in a 266 version, only 333. If I'm not mistaken the KT333 doesn't support a 333FSB (kinda dumb huh?) You might get it to work at around its rated speed if you overclock the multiplier and use a ~145 bus speed, assuming the board and your RAM can handle it.

Actually I never run this board at 133. She has a 5 in 1 divider (i think thats the one) so i can run at 166 and the pci and agp buses run at normal speed. One of the things that i love about this board :)

This site makes me thing it'll work (First entry) , but i figured i'd ask on last time before i order.
I know the EPoX 8K3A+ supports Bartons with the latest BIOS version... so there is a good chance that your 8K5A2+ may... check sites like
AOA Forums or forum at AMDMB, as they usually have the very latest BIOS versions.

Also, the 8K5A2+ does support "333mHz" CPU speeds (166mHz and higher bus speeds). I'm running a T-Bred 1800+ at 175mHz and 11.5 CPU multiplier right now (my daughter's gaming PC). You just need to set both the CPU bus and memory bus at 166 in BIOS. They then run synchronously (1:1) at speeds at and above 166mHz, instead of the asynchronous 4:5 (133:166) ratio.

PS: I'm going to be installing my Barton 2500 in my trusty ol' 8K3A+ this weekend.

? Changed "Unknown CPU type Message" to "AMD K7 Processor"
? Solved unstable clock generator issue
? AMDFLASH version updated to version 8.23J

Fixes included from previous BIOS:
? CPU strings added for correct detection Athlon 2700+/2800+ (333 MHz. FSB CPU's)
? Solved installation issue Windows 2K when using specific configuration
? Keyboard LED switched off when PC turned off
? Fan speed detection issue solved
? UDMA133 option hidden issue soved
? AWDFLASH version updated to V8.22A

I've consistently found newer BIOS files at the European Epox site than the US site.
