Hi,

I am building a new system and have purchased the following parts:

Athlon Barton 2500 XP
Abit NF7-S V.2 Motherboard
Antec True 550 Power Supply

I want to get my system to at least 2.2 Ghz (and from what I read here, that should not be a problem :D ) but I really want to get fast memory and I would like to know if the following RAM is good:

CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency (Twin Pack) 1GB(2 x 512MB) 2x(64MX64) PC-3200LLPT With Platinum - Silver Heat Spreaders.Retail
Specifications:
Speed 400 MHz
Organization 2 x 64M x 64
CAS Latency 2-2-2-6-T1
Memory type DDR
Part number: TWINX1024-3200LLPT Model#: TWINX1024-3200LLPT

It's currently available from Newegg for $290.

I was wondering if I can get a 2-2-2-5 timing on those 2 babies.

Thanks in advance for all your feedback! :D

That is some of the best memory you can buy, they will treat you good. They also should run close to those timings at 200 FSB.

yeah, you should have no problem with that RAM. I somewhat wish I had spent the extra money on PC3200 or 3500 RAM, but it's just too expensive for me at the moment.

I'm using Crucial 2x512BM (1GB) PC2700 RAM and I'm currently overclocked to 2146mhz (I'm running a Barton 2500+ as well), and I think I can probably go even higher. With that in mind, you should AT LEAST be able to hit that with no problems and continue going.

I have the 2500 with Corsair PC 2700 (wish I had the cash for 3200 at the time)

I got my CPU up to 2.2 gigs on my 8rda with no problems

I had the mem at 183 mHz @ default voltage.

Not even close to 200 and I was able to hit 2.2 gigs stable. Probably more if I tweak the voltage on the mem and vcore.

If you get the 3200 or better expecially the Twin modules then you should be able to get a to 2.2 gigs easy with better mem timings and speeds then what I have.

With the mem and CPU over clocked I get 16800 on 2001, I was impressed as I get 15k with default settings, although I'm not sure the difference in actuall FPS.
