Originally I was sure I should buy the barton 2500 as it would at run in sync with ddr333 by default.
But, considering I'm trying to build a relativly budget consiouse box for a friend ($670) who isn't incompetent but nevertheless is by no means capable of buildign one for himself (just to give you a reference point) should I instead buy a 1700 and raise the fsb to 166 (remember my friend has no idea what overclokcing really is)? I'm going for an nforce2 mobo but considering the price of the barton, it looks like I would be stuck with the cheapest msi one. If on the other hand i was to get an 1700 i could probably opt for a much better board and bettetr ram modules.
basically should I get a 1700 and oc it to an fsb of 166 on probably an asus nforce2 non-deluxe
or should I get the 2500 barton with an fsb of 166 and run it on an msi ~$87 motherboard with worse ram?
