That is legal where I live and I can't understand why. There is a bar down the street from my house that you have to be 21 to enter but you can work there at 18.

In Illinois, the cashiers can't even run the alchol over the scanners (in supermarkets) unless they are 21. If they are under 21, you have to scan your own booze.

In south carolina you can be 16 and scan alcohol at a grocery store. I think that someone that is 18 has to be working at the same time is the law. Because you have to be 18 to work at a gas station.

It makes sense because for lots of people in college tending bar and waitering is one of the only sources of good income.

Exactly.

By being 18 you're able to work a good job and make money.

Your not supposed to be drinking on the job in the first place so the age doesnt havce much of an effect.

Wrong at all resturants you can serve alchohol at the age of 18 I know this because I worked at a resturant that had a bar and I was allowed to "run" the bar in the tenders absence.

That was all when I was 18 not 21.

The A.B.C. of CA rules are in every resturant that has liqour licence, I cant find them on the web now though.

In IL you have to be 18 to SERVE a drink, IE Waitress/Waiter, but you have to be at least 21 to pour/mix the drink.

I agree. I figure if you are old enough to be drafted, go get killed during war, that you should be able to have a beer, legally.
