Perhaps the point of Scientology is to take an incredibly ridiculous idea and, through the funding of the wealthy elite, keep it around long enough to turn it into a real established religion. Such that, when looking back they can prove a point and say that you could make people believe in anything if you keep it established long enough. And by doing so they could eventually tear down people's beliefs in other religions by association. "THAT turned into that? Wonder where Christianity came from".

Or perhaps it is really a cover for all sorts of illegal activity. They make these massive donations because, behind the scenes they are getting a wealth of drugs and sex. Sort of like the club from Eyes Wide Shut. The kind of activities that make you wonder "well what would you really want if you could buy anything in the world already".

Or maybe it is really just a bank. These fake donations are just money stored until a further date when the person needs it. Money donated to a religion probably isn't taxed? I don't know. Maybe they can do that and avoid taxes on that money. And that is why the entire thing is run by these rich people who actually want to avoid having all their money drained away by the government. In this way, all of their doctrine is purposefully meant to sound insane as to keep the common person from ever bothering with their religion.

The thing that makes me dislike Scientology more than most religions is that Scientology's leaders don't believe in it.

I have to wonder about the leaders of other religions too. Does the pope really think that God talks to him? Don't the eldest Rabbis wonder where God was during the holocaust? Are these guys truly that brainwashed or just so comfortable in their cushy, church-financed lifestyles that it's just easier to go along with it.

I'm sure they don't believe everything. And I'm sure there are some who don't believe it at all. But surely a large of portion of religious leaders believe in the overall story of their religion.

I still think their beliefs are idiotic but if they truly believe what they are preaching then I have nothing but respect for them since they are selflessly trying to help others. Scientology's leaders on the other hand do not believe in what they are preaching and are just scumbags.
