Barracuda V question

I have a Barracuda V 120GB, and ive recently been working on making my computer very quiet, and i can now hear the seeks from the hd sometimes, I heard there was a utility from seagate that people got from somewhere that adjusted the seek time to be silent, but slightly slower which i wouldnt mind. It was on this forums a long time ago but isnt anymore, so if anyone has a link to the utility to do this from seagate, please give me a link.

Thanks,
Mark

BTW, how's the idle whine on that drive? I'm planning on getting a 7200.7, which I know is slightly louder than the IV and V Barracudas.

I just got a 7200.7 80GB drive... absolutely quiet... seeks are almost silent. It may be a bit louder than the IV or V but it's not a noticable difference. I'm running it in a Shuttle SK41G system.... very nice drive.

Ah, great, that's good to know. I'm planning on getting either a 7200.7 or a Samsung P80 to replace the Maxtor I have now. The idle whine on it is just awful.

Yeah, there virtually is no whine, it's pretty much dead silent without the seeks, literally, you wouldnt hear it easily with all ur fans off.

Hmm it's the utility on the top right? Becuz i ran booted using that app, but couldnt find anything related to seek timings or anything like that, it was some sort of performance test...

Do a Find on the page for the word "acoustic." That'll bring you right to the Feature Tool section.
