I love how people throw the word fascist around and don't have a frigging clue about fascism. Fascist dictatorships are the ultimate in extreme ****LEFT WING**** governments. Fascist dictators are put in power through the support of the common (read downtrodden) unwashed masses.

If you want to insult someone's politics at least get it right.

The only way to change the ACLU's misguided stand on the Second Amendment is from within.

THAT, gopunk, is the ACLU's glaring hypocrisy. They defend every other right, but that one. Not to mention they perpetuate the "National Guard is the militia" fallacy.

it would be hypocrisy if they were against it. as it were, i don't see "gun control" on their little list of topics on their website.

besides, not everybody reads the second amendment the same way... i wouldn't be surprised if they just couldn't agree on the meaning of it so they just left it out.

Their silence, and standing opinion on it are hypocrisy enough. They fight for every other right, and even create penumbras of rights surrounding Amendments, yet completely ignore the Second Amendment.

They fight for rights that are threatened. Who is taking away your right to bear arms? You read their site. They are neutral, and the reasons they give make sense.

First off, as Carbonyl and I have pointed out, their reasons are dishonest and contrary to the facts. They completely and intentionally misinterpret US v Miller. That alone points to blatant dishonesty. And our right to keep and bear arms is constantly threatened. It amazes me how liberals always say "no one is trying to take away your guns," while at the same time, approving of every new restriction offered up. The far left has, and will continue to support the disarming of the population. To deny this is to deny reality.

Finally, their "neutral" stance is as dangerous as a proactive stance against. Why? Because their very purpose is to fight for rights that are threatened. They have fought for every one of the enumerated rights in the Bill of Rights, plus a few that aren't enumerated. But they ignore the Second Amendment as if it is not a right. I consider that very dangerous from such a prominent organization.

"I support the Brady Bill and I urge the Congress to
enact it without further delay."
- Ronald Reagan, 3/28/91

"Anyone wanting to own a gun should have to pass a written exam that shows that they know how to use a gun, that they?re intelligent enough and responsible enough to handle a gun."
-Rudy Giuliani, 3/21/2000

"Every handgun or assault weapon used to injure or kill another human being signifies in a final sense, a theft of potential genius, the hopes and aspirations of our communities and ourselves. This is not a way of life at all that was envisioned by our forefathers when they drafted the Constitution and Bill of Rights;
under this cloud of hatred and miscommunication that leads to violence, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.?
