Charles Barkley, getting in shape for a possible joint NBA comeback with Michael Jordan, plans to move in with Jordan for a month of serious training before a decision is made.

Barkley said in Thursday's Los Angeles Times that when his broadcasting duties with TNT end May 24, he'll live and train with Jordan in Chicago.

Barkley said Jordan came to his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., last week and they played in a scrimmage with Phoenix's Penny Hardaway.

"Michael looked great," Barkley told the Times.

Noting that Doug Collins is leaving his job as an NBC commentator to become coach of the Washington Wizards, Barkley said, "If that isn't an indication that Michael is coming back, I don't know what is."

Barkley said he is working out twice a day and has lost 45 pounds since he and Jordan began training for their possible comebacks at the start of the year.

Barkley now weighs 292 pounds and would like to get down to about 265. Jordan has lost 25 pounds.

Man, its going to take some REAAAAAAL serious training to get Barkley back into playing shape. He put on what, 80 pounds since he stopped playing? That's no lie, they have been weighing him in TNT. And last time they weighed him he was at 313, I don't know where that 292 number came from, because he sure didn't look any thinner last night.

Let's se..

Barkley
Jordan
Ewing

All on the same team in Washington. This is another "dream" team waiting to happen. They are a bit old (maybe not Jordan) to play against some of the younger teams. If they all played for the minimum and hired some decent staffing (because of the cash saved), then MAYBE they would go the playoffs. Playing the Clippers would give these three the biggest headache since they can't run the court the entire game like the Clippers can.

Ugh, just the thought of that team bores me to death. Jordan is OK, but Barkley and Ewing? Is there enough geritol to keep that team going all season? Why not see if Bernard King, Tom Chambers, Isiah Thomas, Kevin McHale, and Nique want to give it a try again? Hell maybe Bob Cousy can stop announcing Celtic games and suit up again.

This is sad. Barkley is just trying to ride Jordan's coat tails. Unlike Jordan, Barkley will never get back into shape or regain his old form, and he was no Jordan when he was at his best anyway. He's just going to make a fool of himself. He should stay retired and keep what image he has intact.
