I'd trust a Tiger Direct rebate before I trusted any MB with a VIA chipset. Very problematic, that's why they are always very cheap.

Just my 2¢. Not my $0.02.

And you just showed how you know nothing about computers.

2cents you say, you want your change?

I didn't say "2cents"...I guess you just showed that you don't know your ASCII codes, tough guy.

This system is NO GOOD.

After many attempts, and using both an AMD stock heatsink/fan and an aftermarket one, I was never successful in cooling the CPU down. It soared past 60....65...70 degrees before I decided it was time to send the unit back.

Why was it doing this? My guess is because every CPU fan was TOUCHING the power supply. Not to mention, it was being blocked by the power supply, and was only sucking in the hot air from the power supply.

Also noteworthy: this was on sale for the same price last month, and it used to say the case came with FOUR full sized drive bays. This is INCORRECT; there are only three.

Spend a little more money for a better motherboard, and a slightly larger case (Soyo also features a true 4-full bay case with a handle).

Here's my first thread (or one of the first?) ever on Hot Deals. Hope this was OK...

I agree. The power supply is directly over half of the cpu socket and blocks the airflow from most heatsink/fan assemblies - except this one ---->

Click on the picture for large view

As long as this fits, it should solve the airflow problem.

I started a thread about possible HSF's for this unit here, just added that one.

UPS delivered the box today. I opened it to verify everything is in there. Everything is. There is also a hardcopy of the mobo manual. The CD accompanying the mobo also has this manual in PDF format. Just wanted to post this because I read somewhere on this forum that this barebone system doesn't come with the manual.

I will post again after I install the CPU/memory/HD.

BTW, any suggestion where I can get an inexpensive CPU+fan for Soyo K7VME mobo?

People, beware of soyo rebates. I heard they are going out of business.

I still haven't receive my $50 rebate from them yet, and that was 4 months ago.

It's not nice to spread rumors, especially when they are unfounded. Can you please point us to your proof about Soyo going out of business.

As far as your 4 month old rebate, did you bother to read the rebate form ?

I didn't think so.

All SOYO rebates spell out the terms concerning when you will receive your rebate. Normally it is 12 to 14 weeks from the "POSTMARK" date. This date is just above your name on the rebate form.

If you add 14 weeks to that date, I think you'll see it's not time to complain.

If you don't receive your rebate by then, call Soyo Rebates at: (909) 292-2528 ask for Shirley, Nancy or Rattana.

I think this is an abuse of the word "POSTMARK". Merriam-Webster defines a postmark as: an official postal marking on a piece of mail; specifically : a mark showing the post office and date of mailing. Hence, from when I postmark my mail.. not when they determine a promotion is over. Has anyone tried using this phone number yet?

Put Tiger in the title so people don't bother opening this thread.

Not to thread crap but if this was making me money after a rebate, or just simple free after rebate, I wouldn't even consider it.

I've had Tiger $%!@ me twice on rebates, so ^&*! them.
