This seems pretty darn cool.

It has the potential to be an awesome game. But that's as long as you understand the goal: to build a beautiful dungeon crawler ("blobber") set in a Scottish-themed world.

That's one of the things I like about this project. The scope isn't too big. It seems (to borrow the term from Brian Fargo himself) "laser focused".

Shameless plug: last hours of this kickstarter if you want in......They've raised over $1.5 million (and will kick in at least $1.25 million over their own money).

4 of 6 stretch goals have been achieved. Doubt they hit the remaining 2, but it's still gonna be a heck of a game.

Backer site is live for those ATers who pledged and may have forgotten about this.

I think this is going to be an awesome game.

Hmm... I have 2000 points there from my $20 pledge to Bards Tale 4 I suppose. I also pledged to Wastelands 2, is there a way to add that to the pool somehow?

Yes. On the BTIV backer site, you need to make sure all email addresses used for pledging to InXile games are listed.

I'm guessing you used a different email address for the WL2 pledge.....

Anyway, go into your settings and add the additional email address.

FYI - if you pledged to BTIV before June 26th (which was pretty late in the campaign) you're eligible for a loyalty reward - Underworld Ascent 1 & 2 (I think) from GoG - since you also pledged for WL2.

I thought it was only Tides that counted along with BT-IV. I don't see anything about my Wasteland 2 pledges and I definitely used the same address.

I could be wrong. It's how you interpret this:

Can I use my previous inXile accounts (Torment or Wasteland 2)?

If you previously pledged to Torment: Tides of Numenera, then you can use that account on The Bard's Tale IV's web site.

If you previously pledged to Wasteland 2, unfortunately, that information is not available to the Torment web site and we cannot reuse your account. You will need to register a new account. However, if you use the same email address as you used on the Ranger Center, we will attempt to link up any previous Wasteland 2 rewards. This way, if you qualify for any bonus rewards which rely on you having backed Wasteland 2, you should be able to do so.

If there is any concern, I would contact InXile. I had a great experience with them yesterday. I did NOT qualify for the first 48 hours bonus (free copy of Witcher 1 or 2 or WL2). I missed it by a few hours. But the time stamp on my reward made it appear that I did.

I sent them a note for clarification and they fixed the issue.....and gave me a copy of WL2 anyway. All within a few hours of contacting them.

Maybe I'll shoot them an email. I'm not really overly concerned either way though. I opted for the extra WL2 key even though I had 2 from that pledge 2 years ago. If they make. I'll buy it.

If you ordered early enough you got a free copy of wasteland 2. Just sold the key for $20 on ebay so my pledge just became practically free.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone else is excited? In the last update, InXile explicitly stated the game would be released in 3Q2018. Alpha access should be soon.

I like what I've seen from the sparse updates so far. I expect to see a lot more (and more frequently) as we get closer to 3Q.

I think I kickstarted it, but I need to still play the other games in the series, so not that excited.

I'm ready and waiting. Need my non-MMO RPG fix. I really wish Skul would finish the remasters of the first 3. I'd love to replay them but I just can't quite seem to force myself to deal with those apple 2+ graphics and sounds in the dosbox. I hear there are some issues with that contract though.

Initially I was intrigued about playing remastered versions of BT1-3. But honestly......I just don't have the time, nor the will to put in the work to play those games. My understanding of the Olde Skuul contract was it was contingent upon delivery of a viable product. But OS decided (?) they needed cash upfront to do the work. Supposedly they got all of that worked out, but still InXile has been very quiet on the subject.

I'm really looking forward to BT IV. I kept my expectations in check: a dungeon blobber in a Scottish world. Looks like we're gonna get exactly that with an emphasis on exploration and puzzle-solving. The turn-based combat doesn't blow me away on appearances, but there is a lot of depth there.

I am especially looking forward to the weapon/item puzzle system. Getting a weapon boon (if you unlock it correctly) or bane (if you f it up) sounds awesome to me.

no.

i was really disappointed by Wasteland 2.

The skill system was horrid. You fail one check and you are forever locked out, the skills do not advance with use, character builds are broken .. actually let me stop here and just say that the game mechanics in W2 were garbage. I genuinely think W1 had it better.

And the gameplay is horribly slow, with no need to make it isometric. And the difficulty is badly balanced. Navigating the maps was so horrible it makes me want to uninstall. The art direction was very disappointing. The entire playing experience was really, really bad.

And i could *maybe* forgive most of these were it not for the fact that the game CANNOT LOAD MODULES.

you really want me to spend 60 quid on a RPG that i can only play once ...

And that is my first argument. My second argument is "are people still falling for the Kickstarter lie?"

If you are going to convince me that i should give you money, because you made Wasteland 2, hey, how about you use some of that money you made from wasteland 2 to make the game. You're a business, sort out your budget.

Personally, I very much enjoyed Wasteland 2. Never played Wasteland 1.

InXile DID use proceeds from Wasteland 2 to develop the Bards Tale IV. Unless you think Brian Fargo was lying when he said they (InXile) would add their own monies to whatever was raised during the Kickstarter. If he was lying, that was pretty bold to do it straight-faced in the pitch video.

I've never been burned by Kickstarter. Basically I paid a reduced rate to pre-order a game I want to see made and am very much looking forward to. From a developer I trust.

So yeah.
