Barcelona trip suggestions?

My fiancee and I will be in Barcelona Spain, May 4-5, and May 12-15 on part of our honeymoon.

Most importantly, does anyone have hotel recommendations? I want something fairly nice and close to the major attractions, at a decent price. I'm hoping to spend $50-$80/night. Really the only attraction I care about is the Monserrat winery.

Any advice on what I should do/see while there?

Any other tips/comments are appreciated.

Thanks!

Hmmm...Barcelona...

Before you go, convince yourself that you're into Gaudi's work...it'll make it a lot easier for you to stomach all the crappy buildings he dotted the city with :Q

Um...there's a gothic cathedral there that's nice, the shopping along La Rambla is cool (Though maybe not so incredibly cheap anymore since the Euro came into full force), and the women are pretty rockin'

Thanks for the info.

Others have warned me about Gaudi...

Any other comments?

I really need recommendations on hotels.

Look for places on the border of Barri Gothic...If I recall, the Swiss had very reasonable prices and looked nice.

The Barri Gothic is within walking distance of La Rambla, plazas, and the Cathedral and you'll find the best prices there. I'd also recommend getting a multi-day, all-use Subway pass. And don't forget to eat Paella 😉

[edit] Oh yeah...and if you've got a free weekend sometime, take a short trip to Ibiza...it's about US$80 for the round trip ticket
