Thank you, theplanb. I thought I was going crazy or just being overly picky but after reading this and listening to your sound file, my drive does the exact same thing. Not quite as noticeable since my case fans drown it out more, but the noise itself is very annoying to me, and I've been thinking about RMA'ing this board back to Newegg because of it, though I'm not sure what I'd tell them, maybe give them a link to your sound file, lol.

I will try this software fix and see if that does anything.

Oh and thanks to ViperGTS too. I hope this file will find the drive on my modo's IDE.

I ran the file and sure enough, don't hear the whining sound anymore. For the heck of it, though, I ran the drive benchmark in Sandra afterwards and my score plummeted from 27000+ to 19000+. Not sure what that's about.

Yup, the noise is gone.
I got the brand spanking new Sony floppy drive manufactured on nov this year.
(I don't have anything else I can brag about..)

You know what, I was still hearing the noise even there was none. My brain was reproducing the noise itself inside of my mind. Man, noise sucks! They mess up your mind man. Peace.
