Your best recourse would be to get someone who has a press pass. get them to agree to go back with you to the bar. make sure they understand the circumstances and reasons first.

go to bar and if they refuse to let you in have the person w/ press pass explain that the bar will be written up. :) if they do let you in and provide you with crappy service. same thing.

if they let you in and provide you with good service, they probably forgot who you were.

I would really like to know what incentive is there to give good service if the tip is going to be added to the bill anyway.
No one gets STIFFED by a customer. if the joint paid a decent wage you would not have to be dependent on tips.

Ouch, after that service I would never go back to that bar.

<< She came back saying that we owe 12 more dollars for her tip (she wanted 18%) and then I lost it. >>

I would have laughed and dropped a quarter or two on the floor. You don't OWE her anything.

I agree with FFMCobalt. If you were unable to contain your anger and started hurling explectives then you have a problem regardless of what happened with your bill.

Besides, you say you 'like the bar'. BUT in yoru original post you say you want to:

<< I want to go back, but I want the "manager" and waitress to get whats coming to them.. >>

Its not your bar. They told you not to return. Forget about it and move on.

sorry, but you asked....

I guess I should grow up and pay the $60 that I was overcharged.. and then pay the 18% that she deserved eh?

No, you should grow up and just forget about it. It's a bar.
In hindsight, I would have paid for what I drank, paid the waitress a token tip and never came back.

I don't think anyone is saying that. They are questioning why you would want to go back to a bar that is dishonest.

No, i wasn't suggesting that. BUT you shouldn't of started cursing either. That never helps resolve any sort of conflict and was probably thier only reason they told you not to come back.

<< 20 mins later the "manager" (in quotes because I doubt he was) came out to talk to us about this. >>

<< I asked for the owner who of course was not there, >>

In such a case, do you have any rights to be given proof that the person you're talking to is really the owner, e.g. his ID and some permit, with the owner's name, for the business?

I wouldn't of even payed for anything, and I can't belive you guys paid the 18% tip. I would of been pissed off and took off when they first overcharged me.

Apparently, some people are a glutton for punishment. Why would anyone want to go back to a bar that gave them sub-acceptable service, then attempted to rip them off, then banned them because they were angry about it?
