That is the only downside of using my credit union: ATM fees. There are a few of my credit union ATMs in the area, but not near enough to serve all of DFW. However in regards to everything else, my credit union charges very few fees not to mention the customer service is just awesome.

I have heard nothing but bad things about Bank of America when you are just a regular Joe Sixpack - seems as if small business people do pretty well with them, though. Or so I've heard.

I love my credit union because they belong to the co-op network which gives me access to almost 20,000 ATMs throughout the USA and Canada.

Mu CU is a member also, plus they give me two free off network transactions every month. If I'm in a pinch, I can always find a WAMU that doesn't charge.

Thanks for reminding me about that. My CU offers five free off network ATM withdrawals per month. I rarely use the ATM though. If I need cash I'll get it while shopping at the grocery store using the POS terminal. There's $0 transaction fee :)

And now that WinCo takes debit cards, it's even better. I used to have to hit a WAMU ATM if I needed cash after Safeway or Albertson's had closed. Now i just go to WinCo.

Maybe it's just me but WinCo seems to be so ghetto. However sans weekly sales and coupons, their base prices seem to be lower than Albertsons/Safeway/Fred Meyers.

Where are the west side WinCo's located?

The one I go to is on Cornell and Cornelius Pass Rd. It's a newer one, in a good area. The one on Cedar Hills and Walker is a little sketchy, as is the one way out west in Hillsboro. There's one by Costco off 99W/217 that I used to go to when I lived in Wilsonville, it's pretty nice. The worst one I've been to is the one on 102nd, by Gateway. That must be the one you mean when you say ghetto. ;)

I've been with BofA for over 10 years now. Haven't had any major problems with them so far. And since I have my mortgage with them, they gave me a Prima Checking account free of charge. And if you live in California, they have ATM's at just about every street corner.
