Today at my school Bank Of America is offering a checking account that is free for 5 years. No monthly maintenence fees, no minumum balance requirements, free online bill pay, and a bunch of other things. I currently have a savings account, but its time for me to get a checking account also. Im just wondering if Bank Of America is a good bank or not. Anyone have good/bad expieriences with them? Ill probably be using paypal with the account, Im not sure if that matters or not. any input is appreciated.

I had nothing but good experiences with BofA when I used them. I changed banks when I moved to IL because they have no presence in the central part of IL.

I'm with National City and I'm very please with them, too.

bank of america can burn in hell, my experiences has not been good with them.

they terminated my checking account without notifying me, or having me sign any papers.

I've always refered to them as Bank of fvck me in the goat ass.

I over drafted on 1 damn thing and they charged me 6 over draft fees. It took me 3 months to clear it up with them, and they still refuse to take that off my banking record.

I dunno why ppl hate Bofa. their website is GREAT, and their recent customer service is a notch above all others I've called. (they actually chat with you!)

and btw: your checking should be FREE period. (as long as you have 1000 balance, OR, you are a student and apply for "CampusEdge")

I put eleventy billion dollars in my BofA acct, they treat me real nice. Their online eBill service is the greatest.

Worked in a Wells Fargo Branch in the past and most customers that I've come across do not like BofA. I would personally recommend Washington Mutual. I have accounts at both Wells (only because it's free for employees) and WaMu, and I really am impressed with their services.

They're everywhere in New York City.

Yea, i just hate banks that just terminate your account without send you a DAMN thing in the mail. Am talking about GreenPoint (now NorthFork).

I've had a BofA account for the past 5 years... Absolutely NO problems and I've lost my card once and have been through other such difficulties.

Somebody didn't tell the whole story behind why BofA terminated the acct. And don't act like you don't know, there's always a reason.

Thanks for the input! I just signed up for an account not too long ago. It seems like a good deal. Im usually good with my money so i probably wont have to worry about overdrafting my account. There all over the place here in northern NJ, so finding an atm wont be hard. I will probably be using the online banking thing alot, so im glad that seems to be nice. I guess experiences are mixed, but Ill see how it goes and if I dont like them I can always switch(I hope)

I just opened an account with them several weeks ago. We moved and the bank we used does not have any branches around us. I only chose them because my company has a deal with them.

I can't complain because I opened it only 3-4 weeks ago and they gave me an extra $50 (per the online registration offer).

they gave me only $25 🙁

I have been with Bank of America since 2002 (Savings) and I got a Checking account in 2003 at the age of 16. Never gone under, never had any problems... parents have been with them since the early 80s. Nothing but good things from BofA.

They have my money, they give me my money when I want it . . . what else is there to say?

Its a bank, I only go in there once in a while and it works like any other bank.
