Wachovia is free

BOA is only free if you have certain conditions
like certain amount of money in your account, direct deposit, ect...

We got sucked up into BofA by way of Fleet, by way of NatWest. I think they do a pretty good job. Probably more ATMs in more places than anyone else, tons of branches, and the staff have been helpful the few times I have needed them. A home equity loan I took recently was completed very easily over the phone and in a quick visit to the branch. But overall, they are a huge bank, and I don't think any of them are dramatically different, other than in size.

BofA's online system is real good. You can easily track all your transactions in detail. I especially like the link to checks you've written feature: they scan every check you've written into the system and it's only 1 click away to review it. Free billpay too.

Wachovia, however, has horrible customer service. After they made a number of errors during the merger of Wachovia and First Union, I had several bad experiences with them. Enough so that I closed my account and went to Washington Mutual.

I don't have enough bad things to say about Wachovia. I'd go with BoA.
