I sometimes still go to a teller for fun. I figure if everyone uses them once in a while it may be enough to justify their jobs. Interestingly my bank is more focused on "old fashioned" service and lot of people actually do go to the tellers. There are some situations where you do need to go to one anyway if you need specific bills.

You are not from Texas then. From the people I see at Walmart, Target, or where ever, after they use the balance on their EBT cards, they pull out these HUGE rolls of cash held together with a rubber band.

I am from Texas - I didn't say stupid people didn't exist ;)

Those banks now make their money off of..
1) Not paying their customer's interest on their funds in the account - which is ridiculous
2) Charging the customer's fees for every fucking thing. Need a checkbook? That will be $15. Need a money order? That will be $5. Have less than $300 in your account? That's a $7 monthly fee.

Banks dont charge fees on regular current accounts over here.

The funny thing is that BofA didn't really screw me... They kinda screwed themselves. I got a condo back in 2006 at the height of the housing boom, and Countrywide bought my mortgage. Then BofA bought Countrywide for some ill thought out reason. BofA then sold my mortgage (probably for pennies on the dollar) to a local mortgage broker around 2010 after the value of the property dropped by more than half. I eventually ended up having the short sell that sucker.

Oh well, who cares if millions upon millions of your fellow countrymen got assraped by them, along with the economy, as long as you didn't because of luck or whatever then who cares right? And I assume that you are a taxpayer if you are then you still got fucked and it is absurdly likely that they will fuck us all again. They are even too bigger to fail now, why the hell wouldn't they pull the same stunt again and earn themselves billions in bonuses?

Millennials are killing banks. There was a time when people used to know your bank teller, you developed a rapport with them and they would give you the fresh bills, hell who even cares about having a crisp bill anymore everybody pays with plastic or with paypalmo.

It's disgusting really.
No, Gen X killed in-person banking. Once the ATM networks went national it was all over for teller based banking. Then came direct deposit where you never see a paycheck. Phone and internet based banking are just the icing on the cake or the nails in the coffin. I've talked to a teller for personal banking three times in the past fifteen years, once to get a mortgage, once to pay it off, and once to change checking accounts when the free checking tied to my mortgage went away.

Let me just step in here...

Not discounting the too big to fail bailouts etc...

The firms that took $$, AIG like, all paid back their debts + interest.

The $$ that went to GM bailouts...you should be bitching about because Americans lost their asses at the stock sale. Main stream media didn't tell you? Shocked, I am.

And that same stimulus $$ that went to freddie/fannie...black hole. Gone. So, @Darwin333, suck a nut. Gone. BoA can die but they are only a part.

The ass rape? Your elected official.

Wow, such hostility! It’s like I accidentally stepped into a pile of P&N that somehow got tossed into this forum.

I didn't ask for Countrywide to buy my mortgage... they made that poor decision on their own.

As for being a BofA customer now... I didn't have much choice in that either. My little town has two banks in it, and the other one is a tiny regional bank that doesn't seem to have ATM's anywhere.

Ahh yes, I am quite sure that if someone put a gun to your head, stole all of your businesses money but paid it back with interest years later you'd be perfectly happy with no charges being filed. That is basically what happened to Congress and they are dumb as fuck on a good day but I give them equitable blame.

However, they didn't commit black letter crimes, untold amounts of fraud, to cause the situation in the first place like the banksters did. Don't get me wrong, Congress played its part when it repealed Glass-Steagall but it was the banksters that committed the fraud, tanking the entire fucking economy, causing untold misery while the assholes that got rich off of the scam got even richer. Some of those assholes got $100M+ bonuses paid with TARP money.

So yeah, they may have paid back the money but that wasn't the assrape I was referring to in the first place although it could easily be part of it. Not to mention they got a shitton more bailout money on the downlow through the Fed but again, not the assrape I was referring to.

Why do banks have drive-throughs?

So cars can meet their real owners!

Thank you Reader's Digest circa 1955

I'm not giving the bankers a pass. I surely would have been charged and put in jail but I'm not rich. Your elected officials can suck it.

I just really hate that certain people/entities are above the law and can literally tank the entire economy doing illegal shit and not only get away with it, not only keep their ill-gotten gains but got to profit even more after it was discovered. Rob a bank for a few thousand dollars and you will spend over a decade in jail, rob the economy of trillions and you get bailed out and no one goes to jail.

It does suck that you have no choices so I guess I'll give you a pass.

I wish all banks would...fast food joints too. It's a colossal hit on the environment, adding millions of pollution-belching engines idling in place.
Totally agree, let the drive-thru be for disabled only, time and again I've had to wait @ Walgreen's pharmacy as the tech's service the drive-thru. Usually someone has changed insurance or has a workers comp claim and they tie up the tech, (and the drive-thru) for 10-15 min getting it app straightened out. What LOL is go to any McDonalds/Wendys/Burger King and you can park and place your order with minimal waiting while the drive-thru is 8-10 deep, I can never figure that out TBH.

Hey, I generally write in Beelzebub because fuck voting for the lesser of two evils. If I'm going to vote for evil I'm going to vote for the best damn evil I can and so far Beelzebub hasn't won so while they are technically my elected officials, and yes they can suck it too, I didn't vote for any of the SOBs. I could write a laundry list of new rules and laws that I think we should put on elected officials along with a law that any of them caught breaking the law will be hung on the Capitol lawn.

That doesn't mean that a metric fuckload of banksters should be in jail right now and we as a nation shouldn't be supporting them.
