So I went to my bank where I like to pick up some singles for my er poker night and the drive through was closed. I go inside and the teller tells me they closed because of to much fraud (/cough bullshit.) Wasn't her fault so we just chatted about it and there was an older disabled lady at the next teller with her walker and she was complaining loudly. I don't blame her if I could barely walk I would to. Says she been there since it was Suburban Bank, I said me to, and that she was going to change banks, I said me to. Plus the bank rarely has any parking spots. and one tiny HC spot that someone always parks in.

Fuck all of the big asshole banks that bare 99% of the fault of the Great Recession by committing untold criminal acts and not only got away with it Scott free but got to buy up a lot of their competition for pennies on the dollar making them even too bigger to fail. Fuck them right in the ass.

Get an account at a credit union, you will thank me later.

I have Bank of America and as of January they started making me go inside for my withdraws. I always do a withdraw for $200 and ask for it in $2 bills. I really enjoy spending $2 bills because people either think they are fake, or they don't have a slot in the cash register for them.

I would love to know what the average age is of people going to get cash from the drive thru teller.

I only do business with 2 credit unions. I stopped dealing with banks because of all their BS. When I go in-person, it's usually to 1. Cash a check 2. Make a payment

Both of my CU's have a check-deposit option in the app that allows me to deposit checks using my phone's camera. I can transfer money instantly between accounts...so I really have no reason to go NOW anymore unless I'm taking out a loan, getting a debit card reprinted, doing major account stuff. The mobile app and my phone have changed a lot....and I rarely use cash. I need to contact them and get Garmin Pay working on my watch so I can just stop carrying a wallet.

I currently have an account with BofA and with a local CU. I've had accounts with two other CU's. The CU's were definitely easier on the fees/limits/etc, but they've closed down all of the branches that were reasonable close and their online/mobile tools are badly lacking compared to BofA.

I wish all banks would...fast food joints too. It's a colossal hit on the environment, adding millions of pollution-belching engines idling in place.

I've been a Bank Of America customer for about three years now, and I don't think that I've EVER gone into my local branch to talk to a teller.

I couldn't even if I wanted to... the bank is always closed when I use the ATM to deposit checks and make withdrawals.

Everything else is direct deposit and online bill pay.

When I was in the Navy, we were paid in cash. One time we got paid in $2 bills, the reason was to demonstrate to all the business bitching about sailors received a clear demonstration of how much money those damn sailors actually spent.

Amazing how underground they are. I didn't know they were a thing until 4 years ago. Incredulous, I asked the cashier if it was real - she said "of course it is, we printed it this morning."
You don't expect to discover some unknown form of American currency after almost 4 decades of living there.

I can see why it would be easier to fraud an outdoor machine, as it's more easily accessible and fraudsters can go late when no one is around to setup their skimmers. The inside ones lock when the bank closes and you need your debit card to get in which could be used to track who goes in at what time. Also the cameras will pickup more detail due to the indoor lighting. An outside ATM can quickly be walked to by a fraudster and a skimmer installed in a matter of seconds and any cameras won't really see all that much.

Not a lot of banks here have drive thrus as most of the banks are down town which is not exactly "drive thru" friendly, ex: it's just a wall of buildings with no parking lots or anything. My bank happens to have one though as it's in a more open location. With all the crime here now days I avoid using it late at night, or being out at night for that matter though. I would like to think that banks go inspect their machines regularly for this kind of thing though.

Except they are talking about drive thus where you interact with actual humans during actual bank hours, not drive-thru ATM machines. You know the drive-thru where you stick your checks or withdrawals or whatever into the tube and it is magically whisked away, a human being processes your transaction and then the tube is magically returned, defying both time and space, with your cash and/or receipt?

They are leaving the things you are talking about in place and removing the ability to do any sort of banking with a human being via drive-thru during banking hours without going inside the bank. They swear it isn't to cut costs though and they are extra super duper believable!

So after they assraped you and every American in the country without even the courtesy of spitting on it you decided to become their customer and give them your money? At least it has been convenient though, right?

I enjoy going to banks to get all brand new 100$ bills before going on vacation. Also the limit at the ATM is 1000$ and they always give 20's at my banks atm. Not sure why there is not a option for 100's.

Oh interesting, did not know that was a thing. I figured it was just drive thru ATMs. So basically like a fast food joint but for banking. Maybe too many stonned people were trying to order a bucket of KFC at the bank. :p
