I got something in the mail from commerce bank saying they will give me $1,000 accidental death and dismemberment insurance for no charge i just have to sign up for the insurance with the included form.

I hate getting involved with something like this unless its really worth it. Otherwise it just turns into wasted time, wasted mail, wasted though, etc.

should i? i mean, its an extra grand if something does happen

No, unless you want to be pestered to increase coverage. Go with your initial instinct.

There's always a catch.

For example, someone will show up at night and cut off your arms and legs. Since it was intentional, you get no money, and the bank is conveniently off the hook.

Does it ask for your ss number? If it does, fill it out and send it back right away. To the PO BOX.

does it matter how much dismemberment happens? Are we talking Darwin Award rules or just enough to do permanent damage?

They aren't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. They've got some plan to make money off this.

Yeah a lot of banks and credit unions do that. Doesn't seem worth it even for the smallest negative bit, like increased junk mail trying to get you to raise. I mean if I got killed or dismembered, I doubt anyone will care about $1000. When I was working, the company provided AD&D insurance was like $125,000 already.

Dont do it. You insure yourself for 1K, they insure you for 10K

They harrass you until you kill yourself, they win.
