This page shows part of a screen shot from when I was doing some downloading at Intel. I'm not sure what the line was, but there were several hundred PC's in my group. Probably a couple dozen on each server, if my guess is anywhere close to right after getting a peek into one of the internal Nodes. :)

Gee, wonder why the bottom of the page including the "speed thermometer" isn't there.

Nice Photoshop work.

Yes, you can find the speed test here.

photoshop work? Screw you. If you don't believe me that's fine, I don't care. When I first learned of the speed test, I didn't look at, really, anything else on the page other than that box. I didn't realize there was a thermometer on it as well. It was back in August. Did they have the thermometer there in August? I don't recall it.

The connection here, at Portland Community College is crappy. My line speed here is 906.7Kbps d/l @ 111.1Kbps

I saw that test quite a bit before August and it has always had the thermometer at the bottom.

I wouldn't trust that test too much. It only gives me 445Kbps but I know I get between 1.3-1.5Mbps in actual use quite frequently.

You think that's good? Try this. :D

That's a (theoretically) 100MBPS college LAN on a Saturday afternoon. :)

Edit: Updated. And that first pic does look suspiciously like a Photoshop job. It's too precise, and there are no decimals.

Elemental: you do realize that it's stupid to back up your claim of Cobalt Photoshopping his result by citing the fact that he didn't include the thermometer and the bottom with hard data results, right? If he manipulated the numbers on top, surely he can edit the thermometer as well as the little numbers at the bottom. I don't care if he did edit it or not. What I care about is stupid reasoning.

Ken_g6:: your link doesn't work for me.

two more items:

1)using the msn page i got results ranging from 500 kbps to 770kbps in a five minute time frame. dsl reports' test usually gives me around 440kbps.

2)you've got to ask yourself the question, "why would someone doctor their msn speed test results?" then, ask yourself, "do i care?"

cheers!

I dont trust that site for giving accurate results. I was once told my speed was something like 37,000 kbps. (BTW, that was after clearing my cache)

A good way to get incredibly high speeds on that site, is to let the test load, then hit 'back' and then 'forward' again.

Then brag about your 4000Kbytes/sec line speed ;)

That is a real lame speed test. In one 2 minute period I had speeds between 24.7k and 6800k and one web timeout. I use the one at DSL Reports. It is more accurate since it limits the amount of tests allowed to keep their server from slowing down the tests.
