Guns & Roses? ...is this a troll thread?

Can't think of too many myself. I can name a few that I only like because of the lead singer.

lamb of god

there's a few songs that i can tolerate, but the inward singing really doesn't appeal to me.

Maybe the Smashing Pumpkins, but I can't be sure because I don't listen to their music because of his voice.

Axl has a pretty good voice. I think he doesn't really plan his recorded singing around what's really practical to sing on a tour; which is probably why he often sounds horrible live.

He definitely ruined guns n' roses though. If you listen to the new stuff you can definitely tell he was not the sole contributor to what made that band great in the 80's and 90's.

I don't really like Rush's singer, Geddy Lee's voice.

James LaBrie from Dream theater sorta ruins things for me too.

Pretty much every screaming metal band ever. I love metal instrumentals but absolutely cannot STAND screaming/growling. Between the Buried and Me and Protest the Hero are some really good examples.

Just about every German metal band. The instruments explode into a wall of awesome sound, literally forcing your hand to turn up the volume knob, then some dink starts croaking like he's deep throating a cheese grater, ruining everything.

I can pretty much agree with this. I don't mind raspy vocals usually and like a fair bit of death metal, but German metal is far too melodic and traditional for that kind of singing. Michael Kiske pwned, though.

There was a time I would say Rush, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest because the girly-man voice really dates the music but now I am over it and love all those bands.

Definitely Smashing Pumpkins tho. Billy's voice is like a bunch of hornets in a tin can.

Not a single one. I hate all singers. All singers at some point in time turn into divas and try to push the musicians into the background and try to make the vocals the focal point of the group. That isn't to say that vocalist haven't at times been the truly most talented person in the band and the thing that drives the band to have their unique sound.

<---if you have a Motorhead banner over your computer desk, you're just not that wrapped up in vocalists.

That's why you need Jorn Lande as your vocalist.

Kiske and Lande doing a duet.

Which is also relevant as I liked Masterplan, then Jorn left and they made an album with a new vocalist and it wasn't very good.
And now he's back so I can like them again since they have a good vocalist once more.

Guns-n-Roses and Rush are the first two that come to mind.

I don't listen to "alterntive rock" or metal, so I can't comment on most of those.

(I do like Metallica, but they're pretty mild by comparison to most metal-head bands.)
