some I like:
bad religion - good considering what they sing about
bush - short and memorable
counting crows - sounds like something you'd do when bored and their music is sort of... not boring, but easy-going and reflective
creed - supposedly a christian band
disturbed - obvious
evanescence - because they're going to fade away
hum - short and memorable
live - ditto
nine inch nails - y'know
oasis - upbeat, happy (that's the impression I get anyway)
our lady peace - eh, I just like it
portishead - sounds cool
radiohead - ditto
rage against the machine - as stated above
smashing pumpkins - makes me think of the 1979 video
sunny day real estate - interesting
the weakerthans - ditto
tool - short and memorable

edit - I also like a fire inside, alice in chains, silverchair, and stabbing westward for some reason. seem to fit their music.

anyway, people are just listing bands they don't like as having bad names and putting bands they do like as having good names. it's pointless.

Exxxactly.

This is a retarded thread. End it now.

ok. I'll list stupid names of bands I do like.

Pink Floyd - So what if it's a reference to old blues musicians. It still sounds stupid.

Led Zeppelin - "Yeah, that idea will go over like a lead zeppelin." Purposely misspelling words in a band name is stupid. And who the f actually uses the word zeppelin anymore. OK, I will admit that it sounds better than Lead Blimp.

The Who - Another bad attempt at being simply profound.

Aerosmith - wtf is an aerosmith?

Simon and Garfunkel - Yeah, it's plain and simple, but Garfunkel is a stupid name. They should have just called it Paul and Art.

Good names:
James Gang - reflects the image of wild outlaws, which is probably pretty accurate.
The Doors - Yeah, it sounds dumb. But it actually makes sense when think about it in terms of Morrison. Their music is supposed to serve as the door to the other side. What's on the other side, I don't know?
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Hearing them for the first time was definitely a mind blowing experience.
