Band of Brothers Vs. Saving Private Ryan

After watching Bob and SPR back to back again, I noticed that in SPR, there's a sniper using a... scoped Springfield? And a guy using BAR.

How come we don't see those two weapons in Band of Brothers?

Band of Brothers was following the 101st Airborne. I don't think they used them, but I did see the BAR in Band of Brothers once or twice.

None of the characters portrayed in band of Brothers were snipers.

I loved BOB, I just wish it were a 10 hour movie instead of 10 one hour episodes.. I hate how they lead up to an awesome battle scene then cut it short and use words to tell you what happened

What type of soldier carries a BAR? anyone know? That thing looks heavier than a machine gun.

One BAR was issued per squad initially. Then it was changed to two BAR's per squad.
