What did you think?? I didn't think it was as good as 2 but the stuff with Blithe was powerful. Episode Four looks strange though .....

I liked it a lot! I would agree, not quite as good as episode 2, but still great!

I don't know...this was the first episode devoted entirely to fighting. The Blythe stuff was really powerful. I probably enjoyed this episode more than the first two.

I'm just waiting for the commanding officer to say, "I don't really like my job. I don't think I'm gonna go anymore." :)

This is some remarkable work by Hanks and Spielberg. The footage really engulfs you like Saving Private Ryan did.

oh ya when the tank ran over the guy and you heard the crunch. Ouch ...

The thing I didn't like about this episode was the fighting didn't seem as powerful like in the town and in the grass area (the first one). But the fighting scene with the tanks was sweet ...

Does anyone get Episode Four yet? It looked really strange to me ...

It was an excellent episode. Lt. Winters again showed what kind of a battlefield commander he is by rallying the grounded troops on the village assault. That was amazing. The Catholic priest was also incredible -- sitting in the middle of a street under fire, giving Last Rites.

I WILL be buying this series on DVD. No question.

I WILL be buying this series on DVD. No question.

I've been taping them, and watching them numerous times as well as passing it to people without HBO... but i'm definitely buying this on DVD.

I liked this one more than the other two. It seemed to be more powerful to me. Anyway, there are going to be 10 of them.

Actually 11 I think, over 10 weeks. I think that's right.

Yes, powerful stuff. Interesting stuff. I served with the 101st from 1981-83. 1/503rd. They were deployed independtly to the S. Pacific theater though under McArthur. They're best known for taking Corrigedor. Somehow appropriate I served with that regiment seeing as how they were formed on my birthday: February 24, albeit 1942.

This episode had some of the most extreme gore I have ever seen on HBO. Not that it diminished it in any way, rather the opposite. But probably disturbing to some out there.

Q: If you were one of the characters, who would you be?

I know I'd be Guarnere for sure ...
