BAN babies on the moon!

Lets just say we do establish a moon base that is fairly self-sufficient and people can live there for a few years before needing to return to earth. To prevent the expense of either bring the mother and child home after the birth or giving the baby physical therapy for improper muscle growth during the first few months or years on the moon. Do you think the government should step in and ban having babies on the lunar surface?

someone is gonna want that title of "first human not born earth". it would still happen, even if there was a ban. 😛

It is out of our hands. The Chinese have a lunar plan as well, they have to have babies on the moon. Nowhere else to put them.

There was a TV pilot some years ago that treated this subject. It was about a manned moon base and the issues it faced. So, Quixfire is not that crazy, it seems. I wish I remembered the name of the show.

Why do you think physical development on the moon is going to be bad?

1/6th the gravity of earth.

Yes, thank you master astronomer...

Is there any proof that gravity or lack thereof has any detrimental affects on human development?

So? Is there any proof that gravity or lack thereof has any detrimental affects on human development?

Depends...ARe they going to saty on the moon? IF they were born ther, and they came to earth, they would be killed...slowly...If not just seriously injured.

Because the lack of downward force, the Calcium would not become as dense in bones, and they might fracture if not worse simply by being exposed to such a change in the pressure excerted by our 9.8M/s^2 of acceleration.

Sort of like if someone with Osteoperosis is exposed to the gravity of Jupiter. They would probably hear a slight "crick" right before their entire skeleton collapsed. :disgust:
