Chicago-AP -- They're getting ready to take this ball out of play -- for good.
The baseball that was at the center of a heartbreaking play for Chicago Cubs fans last October is going to be destroyed by a special effects expert tomorrow. It'll take place in front of Harry Caray's restaurant in downtown Chicago.

During Game Six of the National League championship series, a fan deflected the foul ball out of reach of a Cubs outfielder who was about to make the catch. The Cubs went on to blow their lead against the Florida Marlins, who went on to capture the playoffs and the World Series.

The ball was purchased at auction in December for 113-thousand dollars by the owners of Harry Caray's -- the restaurant named for the late Cubs' broadcaster.

It's a fricking ball. Get over it, people, seriously.

Those deep dish pizza-slurping fat retards in Chicago really need to find something better to fixate their obsessions on.

I wonder if there are people out there who still want to (literally) kill Steve Bartman.

I never really cared, in fact I laughed my ass off when it happened.

BTW, it's really hard to slurp deep dish pizza.

I can't believe someone would pay $113,000 for something, let alone a stupid baseball, only to destroy it.

If the special effects guy is good he should have it disappear and make people believe its destroyed.

The guy that ended up with the ball after Bartman deflected it got the cash. Interestingly enough, he's a lawyer and is using the money for "his son's college education."

Poor guy, Bartman didn't get any money, got death threats, and can't even cheer for the team he loves anymore.

Maybe next time he will get the hell out of the way.

Who sits in the front row of a baseball playoff game and gets in a players way when he tries to make a catch? An idiot.

Last time I checked it was the play afterwards that was fudged up by Alex Gonzalez (the shortshot..think that was his name) that totally screwed everything up. If he made that play nobody would be talking about Bartman. Poor guy...
