Agreed. It took some serious arm-and-leg pulling and shining optical mouse LEDs in my eyes to prove that it's not harmful, but we're finally starting to buy the GDMF things at school. Now I don't have to contend with stolen balls and can put away the Q-tips and rubbing alcohol.

I can see that now.

*shines mouse into eye* LOOK, it's NOT HARMFUL!!!! *gets eyes checked, no problems detected* See, I told you, GOSH!

Prettymuch, yeah. They were concerned that the idiot kids would use the mice to do permanent damage to each other. You're much more likely to do permanent damage by skullfvcking someone with an optical mouse than you are shining the LEDs in their eyes.

i got an mx700 too.

feels so free to have no cord, and never have to change batteries. 🙂
would never go back to a ball mouse or corded mouse.

I had a bunch of compaq ball mice (two button slim model actually made by Logitech) that were getting thrown out and realised something! The ball is rubber coated steel. Then I remembered my wrist rocket. Man do they fly. I'd hate to be on the receiving side of one, that's for sure!

Cheers!

I like ball mice because I can pick them up, slide my thumb underneath, and use them like a trackball. But I've never seen anybody else do that.

That is also doable on an optical mouse! You can use 2000 LPI diffraction grating tape on your finger to control the MX1000 laser mouse but that is like really nerdy. 😛

Cheers!
