Baldur's Gate - Widescreen mod

So, yesterday I decided to play through the whole BG/BG 2 plus expansions again, since it's been a few years.

The only mod I'm sure I wanted to run was the widescreen mod. And, a quick search yielded me the gibberling 3 page. But, it appears that site was down (at least, it was yesterday). I'm at work right now, so i can't recheck it atm. Plan on doing that tonight though.

I have no clue if the page is gone for good, or just down temporarily.

But, I guess the question is, anyone know if the widescreen mod is mirrored at any other page? Of, if there was another mod (that can still be reached) that incorporates the widescreen mod into it?

If I can't get my hands on it, I guess I'll need to to decide if I want to run this game with everything looking stretched or not :p

hrm, on a side note, I'm think I'll probably want to get the unfinished business mods for both games. And probably try to find mods to increase ammo and potion stack limits as well.

The page should be up (I can't check either at work). I just downloaded the mod a couple of weeks ago.

Hopefully that still holds true. The error message was from the server owners, saying the site had been taken down. I guess I'll just wait to see if it comes back up at some point.

This thread makes me want to reinstall all this...

I started plaing through Planescape: Torment for the first time a couple weeks ago. With all the mods it actually looks pretty good. I mean, it's still a very dated game engine but I was surprised what the mods were able to do. I found a blog post somewhere that outlined all the mods to install before playing, and I'm pretty pleased so far.

I went back to the site after work, and it was still showing down. Then, of course, I actually remembered to refresh the screen, and it was up :p

I ended up just installing easytutu, easytutu hotfix pack, easytutu degreenifier, unfinished business for bg1, some other mod I can't remember the name of that was supposed to remove the xp cap, and raise stack levels to 500, and then widescreen.

Everything seems to work properly but the stack levels (havent tested out the xp cap, of course). I don't really want to try and trouble shoot it, and it was probably how I installed that mod, I imagine.

It did crash on me 1 time. But, for the most part, very stable.

For BG2, I'd like to play a monk class this time around. And easytutu will let you make a monk in bg1. But, my xp was set to -1 and wouldn't move, so I couldn't level up. So, I restarted with a plane jane warrior. I can't remember if you import your 1 data into 2 if it lets you pick your class again, or just a sub kit. I imagine I'll end up not importing data into 2 though, and just roll a fresh monk.

I read this thread expecting it to make me want to play BG2 again. Now all I want to do is dig up my old disk from PS: Torment and play that again.

I've never tried any of the mods so I'll have to do that :D

If you plan on playing BG1+BG2, I highly recommend Baldur's Gate Trilogy as your all-encompassing mod. I didn't have any problems adjusting to BG1 coming from having first played BG2, since it's on the same engine.

Heh, already finished bg1. Mostly I just did the main quest, with a few side quests, and gathering the party I wanted. Didn't even both with the expansion tower. Pretty much did this since I wasn't planning to import my game.

So, when I started up bg2, used a monk instead of my fighter from the first game. I only loaded bg2tweaks, and the widescreen mod. I was planning on using unfinished business as well. But, forgot until i got a few hours into my current playthrough and said heck with it.

Tweaks had an option, which I enabled, to be able to get all the strongholds. So far, I'm the proud owner of the paladin (and fighter?), and druid strongholds. I guess it's time to at least get the thieves stonghold as well :D

I usually accept all strongholds except the bard stronghold.

The problem with BG2 is that I start it but never finish it!

I much prefer BG2 to BG1. BG1 is just too... I dont know, its just lacking something BG2 has. Its not as epic or something.

Me too! Although I stopped thinking of this as a problem. The middle, free roaming portion of BG II is one of if not the best gaming experiences ever, so I think that's why I never finish it but always find myself starting a new game.
