baldurs gate 2 overheating cpu..

Here's the specs:
p4 2.4b
asus p4pe
ati 9500 pro
768 ram

Baldurs gate 2 shadows of amn seems to be using up 100% of my cpu when run..so a bit into the game I start hearin some random beeps and when I play a little further the beeps turn into a sequence of high freqency beeps...
Any solutions?

Go into settings and turn off / down some graphics effects?

I played through it on a P3-933 MHz so there might be some hardware problem like a heatsink that isn't cooling properly (fan clogged, loose)

This problem is ther only with this game
