i got Torment from a friend of mine for under 10$ but the game is unplayable out of the box or even patched. i've made it out of the first area, but it keeps crashing when i enter buildings.

as for BG2EE, i DO NOT have time to play BG2 again! plus the expansion, i just can't.

Planescape Torment never ran in DOS, it might come packaged in a direct draw wrapper to fix the mirrored animations though.

woops. my bad. I do know it works fine on modern systems though.

I just couldn't get in to it unfortunately.

I can't believe they are still milking this. Somebody needs to make a new baldur's gate.

Nah the BG series is finished, and finished well enough that there won't be any sequels.

What we need imo, is a similar game with an epic storyline that takes place in the same Forgotten Realms setting, but with the updated core ruleset.

An isometric 3d engine is also a must.

It's called Project Eternity , but it will be in an original setting with a custom rule set, which are both good things.

I can't wait for Project Eternity. With Wasteland 2, PE, and the new Torment, we could be looking at a new golden age of RPGs.

I still haven't been able to get far into the first BGEE. It's like I have to unlearn everything I learned in playing RPGs over the past 10 years. No automatic healing, I get, but party members who go down in a fight are just...dead? That's it? Come on now.

I must say, having read the Baldurs Gate forums, BG2EE seems disappointingly buggy. I mean, BG2EE is more buggy than regular BG2 was. There is a game breaking bug that results in the resetting of all of your game data, plus the game crashes frequently.

You would think with access to the game's source code, they could have made it less buggy, not more. As much as I am a BG2 fan, I'll skip this one until its dropped in price and is less buggy. I dont think its worth $25, not in its current state.

Not surprised after the fiasco with BGEE.

I think I've decided that I'm irritated that this even exists. Even with it being probably my #1 game of all time.

Remake it gloriously or leave it alone.

Thinking about it, I dont know if this is worth purchasing at all for me. I mean, even after the bugs are fixed.

My issue is that I actually dont like using Bioware made NPCs. I dont care about their stories or the interactions - I am more of a powergamer. So, I make my own squad in a multiplayer game and then copy the save game over to the single player game.

Why? Because there are simply not enough NPCs to cover all of the possible parties I would want to create. Want a good fighter/thief? Not available in BG2 (not counting you know who, who dies mid way through the game). Want a ranger cleric? Nope. Want an assassin? Nope. Want a mage archer? Nope.

This means that, to me, the new content in the form of the new characters is wasted. Yes, I would like to play through their quests, but preferably not with them in my party. And I havent heard of any new quests in the game. And I dont know what improvements they have made to Throne of Bhaal, if any. That seriously needed a lot of work, it always felt so poor compared to Shadows of Amn.
