Any truth to this? My mother seems to thinks it boosts the detergent.

haven't you seen the Arm & Hammer washing detergent? they just add some baking soda to some soap and sell it

Isn't soda a bleeching reagent? I'd be cautious about adding it to color clothes.

I've heard that too. Probably same reason they put it in toothpaste, to clean better.

Yeah, it works. You can also put some vinegar in the rinse to get all the detergent out of your clothes (makes them last longer.)

Yes there is truth to it. It also helps to remove odors for those stinky ol' clothes.

O yes it works.

I used to model for the "Arm" in Arm and Hammer. I was privy to some sensitive baking soda documents while with Arm and Hammer. Disturbing stuff.

I think in toothpaste it's more of a mild abrasive.

I hear if you sprinkle a dash of baking soda on your pee-pee before sex, it will prevent STD's. Yes, I said "pee-pee" ;)

I used to work in the steel industry and my levi's would get grimy as hell. If you pour a can of Coke in the washing machine with them you'll be amazed at how well they clean up! Never tried the baking soda though....
