Baked Potato / Microwave

Shame

Platinum Member
I am really hungry for a baked potato or two. I have an 1100 watt microwave. How long do I microwave them? Google was no help and I am not waking my really grumpy girlfriend.

TIA.

6-8 minutes IIRC. not too long.

You just wrap them up in saran wrap and nuke em

😕...uhh, you just poke a few holes in them and nuke them.

Are there plans for a MarioParty in the works? (Im sure there are, but any news on release dates?)

wooops, wrong window! I win!

*shrug* i've always made them with saran wrap to keep in moisture or something. worked fine for me.

lol how is this related? There is a new one coming out though (for the wii), due ~may 2007

As for the potatoes, I microwaved a bunch when I had my wisdom teeth out, and it took a long time actually. I tried 6-8 mins but the center would end up uncooked. Definitely poke holes, try even splitting it a bit down the middle to open it up

I never used Saran Wrap, and they always came out plenty moist. But, then I have a low powered microwave, that takes about 15 minutes to finish them. Of course, I probably cook more of them at a time than some people.

I win! Thanks for the info.

Poke holes in them, and put them in for about 10 minutes. Turn them after 5, check them after 10. If they're soft, they're done-- otherwise, throw them in for a few more minutes.

Your microwave doesn't have a preset thing for potatoes?
I had to go look, because the only thing that I ever use is the defrost button, other than the +minutes function. It has a numerical value for potatos, but I have no idea of how to program that. I could break out the manual, but I see no reason for that, since my method works.

Yeah, I know your in a hurry, but you'll miss the nice crisp skin that comes from a conventional oven baked potato.

I don't know if this helps make them crispier, but my parents used to wipe vegetable oil over the potato before baking it in a conventional oven.

it's probably pounds of potatoes

I put in however many I want and hit the "baked potato" button and it cooks it until its done.

If I didn't have that button then I'd have no clue.

nomally 10 min for a large one, is start with that, poke them before you start and check them when it dings, if they arnt done keep cooking in 5 min intervilas

Thanks for the ballpark numbers. 10 minutes for potato, and 15 minutes for two in my microwave (turning every 5 minutes). Thanks all!
