are you saying you use bottled sauce on a steak as well?

you blasphemous bastard.

Of course not. It's to put on the tater skin.

I use A1, one of the best semi-piquant "savory" sauces, or any one of the many, many others of this type, on many things. . . but never steak, which, of all things, should never need it.

I do like it, though, on cold sliiced steak sandwiches on good, crusty bread with thin slices of raw onions and a side of a few crisp quarter slices of dill/garlic pickle and/or some green or black kalamata olives. There, it shines! Mmmmmmm.

sandwiches are a different story altogether as far as a sauce is concerned, but im still not a fan of bottled sauces.

it does sound good, but i made a brisket the other day and have enough for one...more...sammich...

Doesn't matter how the potato is cooked, it is a fact that the skin will make the end result better (well as long as it was cooked properly). I'm a little baffled by the responses from people who eat it basically just because they were told to as a kid.

I eat broccoli because I was told to as a kid, and now I love it.

Much like potato skins.

Pesticides are water soluble. Wash your food properly, and you'll get rid of any harmful added pesticides. However, the food you eat itself is chock full of natural pesticides. Plants naturally create pesticides to fight off prey, disease, etc. These natural are poisonous to humans, carcinogens, etc. They occur in organic foods and non-organic foods. And, you get 10000 times of that as you would ever get in pesticides from non-organic foods. You can't wash this natural pesticides out since they are ingrained throughout the food.

You have a point (pesticides are bad), but it is so misguided (unnatural pesticides are such a miniscule percentage of the total pesticides that you consume) that it isn't even worth considering.

Not that I can see much pesticide residue attaching to the potato that resides BELOW ground though...

So the question remains - does the skin really have goodies in it or just an old wive's tale?
Yes, the skin holds the goodies. Especially the fiber portion. Eating potatoes with the skin has been shown to make people the most satisfied (ie most hunger removed) with the least number of calories of any common food.
