Baja Fresh Vs Chiptole, a strange tale.

It always puzzle me that how come Baja Fresh can't compete with Chiptole, specially it is Baja Fresh that made the hot and fresh burrito out of the grill while Chiptole is just hot water warmed meat. There are not much difference between the price if u consider the monthly baja fresh coupon. My logic is: Better food= more customer.

Pretty sure Baja Fresh keeps their food in a hot table just like Chipotle. So yea, both have "hot water warmed meat".

baja fresh is so bland they don't season their food for shit. i eat there every now and then because i love their salsa bar and their pico de gallo is awesome, if you can even call it that. it's more just like tomato salsa.

but i love that shit.

baja has more variety but chipotle def fills me up more and it does a fine job at clearing out my pipes. ;) i wish chipotle would add shrimp or some type of fish to their menu. Usually I just get the veggie bowl with guac

I love Mexican food. Outside my office at work there is both a Baja Fresh and a Chipotle, literally across the street from each other. Between the two, I eat at Chipotle about 98% of the time. However, there is also a local (not national) chain "District Taco" which is vastly superior. District Taco doesn't have a store near my office, but they have a food truck they bring around every Friday, sometimes other days of the week as well.

It's an interesting dynamic. I prefer Chipotle over Baja Fresh generally, and I prefer District Taco over Chipotle. However, if all three were available every day, I'd probably never eat at Chipotle, though I would occasionally go to Baja Fresh. District Taco just does the stuff Chipotle does better, while Baja Fresh does have that "baja" salsa I like so much which isn't available elsewhere. I'd probably eat there at least once a year, and eat at District Taco every other day. Sorry Chipotle.

Since the District Taco food truck is only around a couple days a week, Chipotle does see a lot of my business.

Chipotle is water warmed meat? LOL! I guess the guy grilling the meat and chopping it fresh right behind the serving line is just a figment of my imagination.

Can't wait to get home and get a steak bol with guac.

The grill shrimp vegatable burrito enchillta style taste so good and it is hot, in temperature. The issue with chipotle is that the burrito feel cold by the time it get to you.

I was going to say the same thing. Some people just like to spew out nonsense when they don't like something. Truth be damned.

Any local burrito shop > Qdoba > Moe's > Chip-Pottle

Funny. Qdoba and chipotle have basically the exact same setup, except chipotle uses better quality ingredients. I guess you have developed a taste for the mass produced stuff.

Quedoba and its inferior.

Also, my town is infested with mexicans and panamanians and guatamalans. The mom and pop diners suck.
You know where the hispanics eat?
Chipotle.

Never been to Baja Fresh. But Chipotle sucks. I get a bigger, better burrito for less money at several local burrito chains. Must suck to only have these big chain options.

This is my conclusion as well in regards to the people who don't like Chipotle. They should rephrase their statements to "I like MSG and processed food because that's what my parents fed me when I was a kid."

Chipotle uses very high quality ingredients and preparation. It is possible to get a bland Chipotle (particularly if you get a burrito instead of a bol), but it's because you got some poorly prepared ingredients. Unfortunately, taste variation is the price you pay for freshly made, high-quality gourmet food for $7.

No they eat at El Rey Tolteca and some other decent non-chain places.
