The bad thing about minks is that they are truly vicious things that kill literally everything their size or smaller, including birds (and when they are grown), chickens, squirrels, rabbits, and even the neighborhood cats. Generally, if they can catch it, they will kill it just to be killing.

Maybe try alcohol. Get the mice nice and drunk, then y'all can hang out, have a good time, and realize that they're not so bad after all, and that you might want to keep them around for some company on those lonely nights.

If you want to get rid of the mouse by scaring it away, that might have done it.

It's a weasel with really nice fur. Weasels are overkill predators. So are mink, apparently.

there are traps made from 5gal buckets with a rod that seem to do ok on the yt vids. seems like less chance of one getting away and learning to avoid the bait. as long as you dont mind drowning the rats.

Striking out with Jelly Bellys in 4 traps so far. This is a smart mouse, figure its IQ is around 160.

Gonna maybe try bits of bread with some grease dabbed on top.

they seem to seek out the chicken food here. i keep moving it and trying different things. im trying dog food in a tin cat trap. but i seem to have the best luck with the glue traps so far.

It's pretty much all I've ever used...for rats and mice. But I have a mouse here that is turning up its nose at peanut butter, so plan b or c or ??? until I catch it. Of course, I now have to assume there are others in its wake.

Small piece of bread has always worked for me.

Just worked for me! This afternoon, baited 3 traps with little chunks of my homemade rye bread today, tying them to the plates with bits of string. Less than two hours after sundown, there was my mouse. Was it the only one? Dunno, will leave the traps out. Meantime, tomorrow I gotta fix (if temporarily) the hole in an upstairs wall that's the only place I know of that they might be able to get in.

If you switch back to cheese, my dad/grandfather used to light a match and melt the cheese a little so the smell would carry better. We typically weren't rat-infested, so it seemed to work.
