Ok I have watched this long enough and I am going crazy. I have 1200 to spend after all rebates come back... and no exception here is the list and tell me if someone finds cheaper than what I have...

THIS IS NOT AN OC'ING COMPUTER, PURE STOCK...

MOBO -Gigabyte S3 $119 ewiz.com or pcalchemy.com
CPU -6400 Core 2 retail $239 ewiz.com or pcalchemy.com
DVD BURNER- NEC 3550 $29 OEM silver, newegg.com
RAM - Patriot 667 (PC2 5300) 2GB $179 with $20 rebate newegg.com
HD -Seagate 250gig SATA2 PERP REC. $79 newegg.com

COMBO DEAL:
MONITOR: BenQ FP202W Black 20.1" 8ms Widescreen
VID CARD:Connect3D 3056 Radeon X1900XT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3
combo $564.98 and a $50 mail in rebate

I think I will need some cables to hook up some of these, I already have the PSU modular Ultra and Ultra Alumius case.

After Rebates that $1139... so I have maybe some room to improve

If you're not gonna OC, why are you buying those expensive RAM? C2D runs fine w/ DDR2 533 'cause it only runs on 266FSB. Add $20 and get the 320GB you cheap ass.

so you call him a cheap ass cause he doesn't buy the 320GB HDD then you tell him not to spend the money for faster memory? Sheesh...

If you're not overclocking, you should've just gotten the Intel 965 board for about teh same price as the Giga-byte S3, which is a 945 based board.

Do you know what you're talking about? C2D runnings on 266FSB by default. If the OP doesn't wanna OC, he should get the DDR2 533 RAM instead of the more expensive DDR2 667 RAM. If he's gonna drop $80 on a 250GB, why not put in another $20 and get 70GB more? Did you miss something?

No, but having better memory means the ability of running lower timings.

well, I did not tell the whole truth. I will try some minor overclocking in a few months once I get use to the system so i guess that will pay off. And for the person that posted about the S3 i believe you are wrong that board is a 965...

http://www.gigabyte-usa.com/Products/Mo...?ProductID=2321&ProductName=GA-965P-S3

well not completely wrong but that 945 is too low for me...

Also I did not order the processor or mobo yet, so I can always change that part. I dont know weither to use ewiz.com or pcalchemy.com any suggestions???

Also, I called newegg.com to see if they could change an item, and she said it has all shipped already!!! i ordered at 1pm CST!!!! and it is now 5pm CST!!!

YEY

Why don't you look up the performance increases of running lower timings?

I would order from zipzoomfly.com the Corsair TWINX1024 or whatever. It's like $150, and works as well as the patriot.

lol too late, patriot is on its way.

I know coolness is not always the best thing to go off of, but my comp is a red white and blue theme, well red clear and blue!!! so patriot ram matches, I also ordered red round IDE cable and may pick up a Red sata cable for HD. My psu has clear or silver modular cables. Well and there is some black, had to get a black dvd burner.
