Why didn't you sue Comcast and pursue criminal charges against the company that stole your number?

Be ready to battle.

I've always owned my own modem and at some point, they start charging me for a rental modem. It's happened at least three times.

I had a problem like that with Time Warner. There is no other option for internet in my city so I took them up on their regular rate ("for 12 months" rate), which was still price gouged at $50 for 20mpb's, but was the best you could do in town. Then one night when I checked the bill they had decided to flip flop the lower for 12 months rate with their sucker price "undiscounted" $65 rate. I called them up on it and after half an hour on hold (call times are long because of the special attention we give each customer!! Actually, we're just too cheap to hire on more support rep staff) I decided to go personally to their location.

Though dismayed to see a line of people all the way out the door with problems, (I'm not kidding here) I opted to stand there and wait. After it was my turn the lady punched keys into a computer for 5 minutes and got it squared, but when I asked her why that kind of flip flop happened, she had no idea.

Hey Green has anything been fixed? If not I can recommend some alternatives for phone and TV and help you set them up. Depending of how you want to go you can save anywhere from $30-$150. No im not selling anything I dont work for any companies. I just have been looking and slowly moving away from phone and tv companies fr awhile.

I am 100% of of a phone provider and have free home phone service now and am looking to get away from my TV provider as soon as my contract ends.

So, big question since it relates to Comcast. Should I go Comcast, some Satellite internet, or dial up? Any choice not evil here?

It's a very long story, but the bottom line is that after 360 networks did the paperwork to get the number, Comcast has to release it. When we talked to someone at comcast who actually had some idea of what was going on, and spent half an hour telling him that we never agreed to release the number (he couldn't seem to wrap his mind around that one pivotal fact) he got the number back, and recommended that we retain a lawyer to take action against 360 networks.

I'm going to contact 360, but I don't know if it's worth getting an attorney involved.

Comcast customer service is alright for simple issues, for anything out of the ordinary it's as bad as it can be. Once the rep you're talking to realizes he can't help you, his only goal is to get you off the phone. The favorite story is that "a top level manager will call you back within one hour". I was told that several times, I never once received a call back from Comcast.

Or they tell you to unplug and plug back in the equipment, wait for a signal if it doesn't work they say all they can do is schedule an appointment and that is usually a week from any day since most people work 9-5. I had to make 3 trips to the office to get a regular working box and I was suppose to get 20 dollar credit but they never gave me it.

Contact the FTC and file a complaint. Easy and enough of them the FTC will step up.
