does it damage most computer speakers at all to leave them turned on forever, as apposed to turning them off when you wont be using them for extended periods?

Hmm.. my Z560s are on all the time for the past 10 months. I don't think it'll do any harm but I'd like to know too.

I've got a pair of el cheapo 2.1s and they don't have an on/off button, so they stay on 24/7

I don't think there is a problem with leaving them on. That being said, mine are never off. Even if I turn my PC off for some unfathomable reason, my speakers don't get turned off. Mostly because I forget. As far as
I off it bcoz I'm scared of eletrical spikes or smth that might damage it
I assume the English translation is that the speakers are off when not used because of fear of a "power spike". If that's the case, a surge protector should help with the small ones, a UPS for any that may be bigger. And just because they are off, I don't think that makes them safe from serious power spikes. Unless you unplug them altogether.

Yeah they did !! I just have mine plugged into my PC'S PSU (Vantech Stealth) extra outlet in the back so they turn off when I sjut my system down. I wish more PSU's came with an additional outlet like the old school ones It is VERY handy!!!

Same here! I got them Z-640s and combine that with the front blue lights of the Sonata and my room is pretty bright at night. Throw in the lights from my hub, router, cable modem, printer and other things and my room looks an airport runway at night!

Holy lord, that thing is bright! I have one of mine on a desk shelf that is at eye level. I had to put a small piece of electrical tape over it so I'm not blinded.

24/7(approx 18 months) for my Klipsch PM 5.1s, the only time they go off is when I'm gone for a few days or the power goes out.
