Bad Sectors

I'm having problems getting a PC to boot, surface scan found bad sectors near the beginning of the hard drive. I used max blast to partition the bad sectors away from the good sectors. Is there a way to make it boot using the D partition and ignore the C? Is there some other approach that can keep this drive usable?

moving the drive's partition bundary on C beyond the bad sectors is about as good as you can do. You can boot from another partition if you set up your OS in that partition, but I think you've already done the best thing you can.

I would start thinking about replacing that drive. Bad sectors, once started, can grow and spread. They are particularly harmful in the drive's boot sector.

BTW . . . even though you can move the OS into another partition, the drive's essential boot sector will always be at the beginning. So again, you've done the best you can do by moving the beginning boundary in and away from the known bad sectors.
