Bad Sectors on HD

Hi to all.
Recently my computer just crashed and one of my partition just "died" mysteriously. Fortunately i was able to fix up the allocation table but i still have to format that partition.
I'm wondering if there're any programs that can check if the partitions contain bad sectors? and where can i get these programs?

Scandisk will do a basic job of what you are looking for. Most maunufactureres (WD, Maxtor, etc.) have utilities that you can D/L and run a diagnostic of your drive.
