Bad Sector Problem

🙁
I have a Quantum 15 GB HDD with Windows XP Pro installed on C:. Lately, when Windows XP boots up...it starts error checking and in the report it shows me 4 kb bad sectors.
Is this a serious problem ?
If I format my HDD will it solve the problem ?
Please help !!

Your drive is starting to fail. When you have bad sectors, it tries to move the info to another location and then blocks access to this sector. If you notice more bad sectors pop up soon, I would RMA the drive back to Maxtor/Quantum.

You could do a low level format, but I don't think it will make a whole lot of difference. I have tried that in the past to no avail.
