Hi all,
I've had my 10k RPM WD Raptor for a while now, but I don't see much of a performance difference between that and a normal 7200 RPM HD. Is there anything wrong I might have done? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by see much of a performance difference ? have you run benchmarks? The feel is more responsive in large file transfers, decoding, and launching but if your just Net crusing then you probably won't see a difference.

You have to remember that the Raptor is targeted and optimized more for server-type applications and processes. It's internal microcode is different from those found in normal 7200rpm desktop drives.

I agree. I got a Raptor, and it didn't really install XP much faster or anything. So, in about a month, I got another Raptor and put it in RAID 0 w/ 32 kb stripe size. Well, I did not get twice the performance, but I can say now that there is a difference.
