Hi
I've just stumbled across this site while attempting to find a solution to a bad pool header error I've been getting when trying to send faxes using XP Home edition. The problem is as follows:
I've configured the fax and all seems to be in order there. The faxes sent are (so far only one-page) Word docs so I print to the fax modem to send. The fax wizard appears and everything appears to be going perfectly until the fax sent successfully message appears. After that, the screen goes black and then switches on with a blue background and white error message. The message says I have a bad pool header and then comes up with:
STPO: 0x00000019
(0x00000020, 0x86693c78, 0x86693E00, 0x0A310003).
The message is always the same.
I've re-installed the fax application, modem driver and anything else I could think of. I've sent one fax successfully, but that's it (I don't know if the others get through in fact). I recently replaced McAfee's security centre with Norton Internet 2005 (another site suggested this could be the problem...). I see other respondents have pointed to SP2, though.
I'm not a computer genius, so don't really know where else to look now - I might just go back to using the manual fax machine as the PC basically works fine otherwise.
My machine is a Dell Dimension 2400, OS Windows XP Home Edition, 1GB Ram...
Any advice gratefully received.
