Bad overclock result for a GF3 Ti 200?

I just got a new VisionTek GF3 Ti200. The highest I can get it to go is 185/440. Doesn't that seem a little on the low side? (Yes, I know overclocking is a gamble, but this seems to be the lowest I've heard of.) Does anyone else have another GF3 Ti200 which is similarly limited in its OC'ing ability?

I have an MSI GF3 Ti200. Mine goes to 220/500 rock stable. Less stable is 235/520 ; 240 core does not work without artifacts and 540 mem definately does not work for me. I just tried o/cing my friends MSI Ti200; his goes to 240 core without breaking a sweat and 260 core with artifacts (but still works!!) his memory is ludacris, it goes to 550 without breaking a sweat!

As for your o/cing problem; make sure that you have ample case cooling and you're not running it in a hot place. I cannot believe your core only goes up to 185; the only thing that I can think of why that would happen is because the HSF isn't connected properly; if you get a crystal orb and install it with arctic silver/alumina, or just unattach and reattachthe HSF with better thermal compound it should go a lot higher. As for the memory; GF3 Ti200 memory is rated to run at 500 so 440 seems very low.

Overclocking always varies and is never guaranteed. Sometimes you will get a dud and there's nothing you can do about it.

how do you figure out how fast the ram is supposed to run at? should ti200's have 4ns or 5ns ram?

Could be wrong but I would say you have a problem looking for a place to happen, No I have never seen a Ti200 that wouldn't clock over 200, I would say it could have a problem just at 175 and has a short life, Have you checked to see if the heatsink fan might be warped and not making a full contact

I just got a new Visiontek GF2 Ti 200 and my GPU is stuck at around 200. Anything more and I get some major problems. However my ram went to 500. I'm happy at that, but after all I've read I was sure I was going to get a lot more. Luck of the draw I guess.

sorry to hear.. what are you using for system cooling?

my gainward gf3 ti200 gs is running at 250/550 stock cooling.. the gainwards/leadteks seem to be the better overclockers.. but still, a gf3 ti200 is no slouch even at stock speeds.
