I tried to install the 27.42 Beta drivers on my XP system. Windows decided that it didn't like them and made me roll back to the Microsoft drivers that came with XP. Now it won't install any version of the nVidia drivers or the drivers from the Windows Update website. I have tried booting into safe mode and deleting all the nVidia files, running the undelete in the Add/Remove programs app, and everything else I could think of. I hate running the slow M$ drivers. Can anyone help with this? Thanks

Manually extract the drivers on your hd drive....then goto device manager and choose your video adaptor and click reinstall. Then when it trys to load the drives select specific loaction point to where the beta drivers are that should work

I've never seen any file for the nVidia (recent ones at least) that come in anything but an executable that is NOT a .zip file. If you know where I could get one I'd appreciate it.

I use WinZip and extract from the .exe files everytime.......... It'll work for ya (Just pretend it IS a .zip and do it the same way)

I am superstitious about the autoinstallers and don't ever use them

I go to device manager, select display adapter and click on the update button, then tell it where the folder is that I unzipped the .exe file to

then select the nv4_disp.dll (I think that is what it is called) and on the next screen, I make sure to select the right one from the list shown and voila'

I'm pretty sure detonator destroyer doesn't work with windows XP

go to the NVidia website and download the 23.11 drivers........ extract them and use....

the windows update site probably thinks you already have the latest.

Well, since you know Detonator Drivers and an NVidia card will work with XP,

and you have tried several iterations of video driver installs, the only next thing

to do is understand you have inadvertantly hoz0red up your system so bad that

it can't run correctly.

Next step (obvious) is to re-install your OS and this time don't try to tweak it unless

you fully understand what you are changing.

(I'm not trying to be condescending here.... )

Good Luck with it. Don't get discouraged

Get your WinXP disk and try a restore... After a fluxed my Radeon with some bad drivers, the only thing I found to work was a restore and it cleared up all problems....
