Bad nVidia drivers install

I tried to install the 27.42 Beta drivers on my XP system. Windows decided that it didn't like them and made me roll back to the Microsoft drivers that came with XP. Now it won't install any version of the nVidia drivers. I hate running the slow M$ drivers. Can anyone help with this? Thanks

In "ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS", does it show you having Nvidia drivers installed? If so, try uninstalling program, re-boot, and re-install..

That didn't work either. When I restart after installing the nVidia drivers Windows disables the adapter in device manager. When I enable the device thats when it uses the MS drivers.

Download a driver and unzip into a known directory.
Reboot the machine and get into Safe Mode (command prompt) look in the windows directory and system32 subdirectory and delete the files starting with NV (if sequmish -- rename them to NV???.xxx [??? being the other part of the name]).
Reboot the machine -- when it looks for drivers for the video card, click on specific location, and then on have disk -- direct the location to where you unloaded the drivers --
Good luck --

Also go into the INF directory and delete in INF associated with the Nvidia drivers
