Well I finally got in touch with "ESRI" the company who's logo ours (my entry) looks like.... not good news.
Andrew:
Thank you for the message and for seeking confirmation on your
organization's use of the enclosed logo. I can confirm back to you that the logo that you sent is indeed ESRI's corporate logo. The ESRI "globe logo" is both a U.S. registered trademark and copyrighted work. It definitely is not "clip art" as it was designed by our internal Graphics Department about 5 years ago as part of our corporation's new look for the next century. Considerable time, money, and effort has gone into the development, launch, and worldwide implementation of the trademarked logo. On behalf of ESRI, we would recommend that your organization select another logo so as to avoid potential trademark and copyright infringement. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
Peter C. Schreiber, Esq.
ESRI Legal Department
So I'd say it looks like it's time for a new contest? Or the second place logo?
