Hey i'm building a new budget system with a new cpu, mainboard, ram and video card coming in a couple of days but i didn't think about my power supply while i was ordering the new stuff. I have an old antec truepower 550 watt psu and was wondering if using a 20 pin psu on a 24 pin board is a smart move or not? I'd be using it with a asus p5q pro, e7200, 2gig ram, and a radeon 4850.
The old psu has a single 12v rail with a 24 amp max output. Now i heard some people use old psu's with new setups, I just have never done it myself and I'm a bit skeptical about it. Can any of you guys give me some advice, heh it'd be nice to keep this psu as I paid a pretty penny for it 5 years ago.
